UKIP's Phil Eckersley: Making Manchester Stronger by Making Gorton Stronger

Why you should support Phil Eckersley

Manchester has been the subject of substantial funding to make it the second most important City in England next to London. It is hugely important. The question has to be asked why Gorton has not seen the benefits from this funding. Gorton continues to see significant levels of poverty, whilst still remaining a part of a City that has seen funding for industrial growth increase. Education has seen funding cuts, with Gorton's school getting substantially less per pupil than, for instance, Trafford. Gorton has seen higher rates of poverty than other areas of the City and significantly more than other areas in the North West.

People have always voted Labour. The Council is Labour. The MP is Labour. Nothing has changed in the 80 years that they have reigned supreme over Manchester. It is time to try something different, because the historic vote for Labour has not seen the average person in Manchester Gorton see an increase in living standards.

Gorton voted substantially against Brexit. Brexit is still happening. Manchester Gorton needs a UKIP representative to make sure that the deal works best for you. All of the other parties, bar conservative, are simply against Brexit and will likely do little or nothing to ensure you get a good deal - they are more interested in fighting the referendum, despite that this was decided quite some time ago. The Conservatives will simply go with what Theresa May tells them to go with. UKIP is the only party that actively cares about Brexit happening and making sure that it happens in a way that is beneficial to you. We do not need to fight the referendum - we did that and we won.

Phil Eckersley was born & raised in Manchester. He went to University here. He lives here. Phil is a local business owner, providing domiciliary care in people's homes. He has the unique perspective of knowing quite how serious and damaging the cuts actually are impacting people's lives directly. Phil has a history with Manchester and his fight for this City has never waned. Phil knows that the same-old-same-old politics of Labour v Conservative mean that you will never have an MP that fights for you first, as they must all answer to their whip before they consider you. No UKIP councillor or MP is subject to a whip by the Party - UKIP prefers its politicians to fight for their constituents first, their party second.

What will you gain?

Phil is local, and has lived here all of his life. He is a businessman, who employs people locally. He provides care for some of the most vulnerable people in the region. He has to deal with social care cuts daily. He understands what causes serious damage to people's lives. He cares passionately about this.

We need funding to help reach people and tell them what UKIP is actually about, rather than the tabloid national media headlines, which really do not represent what UKIP Manchester stands for.

Phil says:

"UKIP is a party that is built on the British values of helping our fellow countrymen whilst at the same time supporting our cousins in the commonwealth and enabling them to celebrate a British way of life & achieve the highest capabilities in us all. The ethnic diversity of Manchester is a fine example of the tolerant and welcoming nature of the people of Manchester. In Manchester Gorton I want to provide an environment that encourages people to help them help themselves, to achieve their dreams and to become the best that they can be. This ethos requires the drive and focus of an entrepreneurial mind, a concern for the community and firm values of law & order to deliver a landscape for strivers to succeed. If we can build a community through which people can achieve better things and become leaders we will help build a brighter future for all, including for those that have no voice or whose voices are drowned out by others. UKIP is the voice of the working class and small business, we promote & support every tax paying and law abiding citizen. I need you to lend me your votes so that I can start working for you to help bring a better sense of fairness to the funding received by Gorton from Government, for Gorton to be a part of the national and local benefits of being a part of the great City of Manchester and help build a community and neighborhood that we are all proud of. Labour have been in charge for decades in Gorton and only delivered worsened living conditions - now is the time to re-consider historic allegiances to parties that care very little for you. To me & to UKIP you are not a means to an end or a meaningless statistic - to me you are the future - let me help you achieve that future."
