Privacy policy

We are committed to respecting your privacy and protecting your personal information. We aim to provide you with useful information, not to provide others with your information. This Privacy Policy describes our practices in connection with information that we collect through the Site and our Social Media Pages (the “Services”). We’ve tried to keep this Privacy Policy as simple as possible to explain what information we collect and what we do with that information.

Please note, when we refer to our Site, we mean the websites http://www.crowdpac.co.uk and http://www.crowdpac.com operated by Crowdpac Inc. The Services will be provided by Crowdpac Inc and Crowdpac Limited.

By providing Personal Information to us, you agree to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy.

Personal Information

First of all, Personal Information means information you provide to us that specifically identifies you (such as your name, address, email address, credit and debit card number and other billing information, profile picture and social media account ID) and information about your positions on public issues that is directly linked to personally identifiable information.

Personal Information does not include aggregate information, which is data we collect about the use of our Services or about a group or category of Services or users, from which individual identities or other personal information has been removed.

Except to the extent necessary in connection with your use of the Services, we ask that you not send us, and you not disclose, any sensitive Personal Information (e.g., social security numbers, information related to racial or ethnic origin, religion or other beliefs, health, biometrics or genetic characteristics, criminal background, political opinions, or trade union membership) on or through the Site or otherwise to us.

We may use a third-party payment service to process payments made through the Services. If you wish to make a payment through the Services, your Personal Information may be collected by such third party and not by us, and will be subject to the third party’s privacy policy, rather than this Privacy Policy. We have no control over, and are not responsible for, this third party’s collection, use and disclosure of your Personal Information.

What personal information we collect

Personal Information may be collected in a number of ways when you use the Services. We collect certain information you voluntarily provide to us, such as when you fill out a form, create an account or a profile, send us an email, sign-up to receive email or updates, connect through a social feed, make a donation, or request information. Such information may include Personal Information.

Personal Information may also be collected if you provide such information in connection with creating a profile or group, leaving comments, posting a blog or other content, or participating in any interactive features on the Services. In addition, from time to time we may collect demographic, contact or other personal information you provide in connection with your participation in surveys and other activities on the Services.

We may also receive your Personal Information from other sources, such as public databases, joint marketing partners, social media platforms (including from people with whom you are friends or otherwise connected) and from other third parties. For example, if you elect to connect your social media account to your Crowdpac account, certain Personal Information from your social media account will be shared with us, which may include Personal Information that is part of your profile or your friends’ profiles.

The Services may contain links to other web sites. Crowdpac is not responsible for the privacy practices of other web sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our Services and to read the privacy statements of each and every web site that collects personally identifiable information. This Policy applies solely to information collected by our Services.

What we do with your personal information

We use your Personal Information to give you relevant information. For example, we use your questionnaire responses to give you ‘best matches’ to candidates. Another example is that we use your postcode or your full address to locate the correct electoral districts for you, so we can give you an accurate personalised voting guide. We also use your email address to send you a link to your voting guide and a gentle reminder to vote. We may over time use your email address to let you know about new services on our Services, or information about political issues, candidates and elections that may be of interest to you. We also use your Personal Information to facilitate social sharing functionality.

We will use your Personal Information to respond to your enquiries and fulfill your requests and to provide personalised recommendations for content on the Services and via email. We will also use you information for our business purposes, such as data analysis, audits, fraud monitoring and prevention, developing new products, enhancing, improving or modifying our Services, identifying usage trends, determining the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns and operating and expanding our business activities.

We do not sell, rent or otherwise share your Personal Information with any third parties except in the following limited circumstances:

  • Social Sharing. To your friends associated with your social media account, to other website users and to your social media account provider, in connection with your social sharing activity, such as if you connect your social media account to your Crowdpac account or log-into your Crowdpac account from your social media account. By connecting your Crowdpac account and your social media account, you authorize us to share information with your social media account provider, and you understand that the use of the information we share will be governed by the social media site’s privacy policy. If you do not want your Personal Information shared with other users or with your social media account provider, please do not connect your social media account with your Crowdpac account and do not participate in social sharing on the Services.

  • Crowdfunding donations. We may share your Personal Information with the operators of any crowdfunding campaigns to which you donate using the Services. These parties may contact you in connection with your donation and support of their campaign.

  • Posts. By you, on message boards, chat, profile pages and blogs and other services to which you are able to post information and materials using the Services (including, without limitation, our Social Media Pages). Please note that any information you post or disclose through these services will become public and may be available to other users and the general public.

  • Compliance with Law. We may preserve or disclose your Personal Information if we believe that it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, or legal request; to protect the safety of any person; to address fraud, security, or technical issues; or to protect Crowdpac’s rights or property.

  • Compliance with your wishes. Some of the tools and capabilities you will want to use on the Services are provided by third parties. In those circumstances, we may share your information with our affiliates or sub-contractors to facilitate providing you the service you have requested. In all cases, your information will be protected by this Privacy Policy or, should their policy apply to your information, we will provide you an explicit opportunity to agree to their Privacy Policy prior to using the service you have requested.

  • Business Transfers. The promises in this Policy will apply to your Personal Information in the event that Crowdpac Inc or Crowdpac Limited is involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganisation, or a sale of assets. However, your information may be transferred to another entity as part of that transaction.

  • Technology providers. Your Personal Information may be disclosed to our third party service providers who provide services such as website hosting, data analysis, payment processing, order fulfillment, information technology and related infrastructure provision, customer service, email delivery, auditing and other services.

We will retain your Personal Information for the period necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

Other information

Passive Data Collection: When you use Crowdpac, some information is automatically collected, such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, your operating system, the browser type, the address of a referring website, and your activity on our Services. We treat this information as Personal Information if we combine it with or link it to any of the identifying information mentioned above. Otherwise, it is used in the aggregate only, without personal identifiers.

We may also automatically collect certain information through the use of cookies or web beacons. Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive at the request of a website. Among other things, cookies help us improve our Services and your experience. For example, we use cookies to identify you so that, for example, when you return to our Services, if you've already completed the questionnaire, you don't have to repeat it in order to access your personalised voting guide. If we link cookies to any personally identifying information, we will treat this information as Personal Information. If you wish to block, erase, or be warned of cookies, please refer to your browser manufacturer to learn about these functions. However, if you choose to remove or reject cookies, this could affect certain features on our Services. Web beacons are small, invisible graphic images that may be used on our Services or in emails relating to our Services to monitor traffic on our Services and to understand how people are using our Services and our various products and services when they are offered on third party sites.

We may use and disclose this information for any purpose, to the extent permitted under applicable law. In some instances, we may combine this information with Personal Information (such as combining your name with your location). If we do, we will treat the combined information as Personal Information as long as it is combined. If we are required to treat this type of information as Personal Information under applicable law, then we may use it for the purposes for which we use and disclose Personal Information as detailed in this Policy.

We use Google Analytics, which uses cookies and similar technologies to collect and analyze information about use of the Services and report on activities and trends. This service may also collect information regarding the use of other websites, apps and online resources. You can learn about Google’s practices by going to www.google.com/policies/privacy/‌partners/, and opt out of them by downloading the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, available at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Security

We seek to use reasonable organisational, technical and administrative measures to protect Personal Information. Unfortunately, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure (for example, if you feel that the security of your account has been compromised), please notify us via feedback@crowdpac.com.

Changing your Personal Information

Once you are a registered user of our Services, we will provide you with appropriate tools and account settings to access, modify and delete the Personal Information you provide to us and which is associated with your account.

Please note that we may need to retain certain information for recordkeeping purposes and/or to complete any transactions that you began prior to requesting a change or deletion. There may also be residual information that will remain within our databases and other records, which will not be removed.

Minors

Crowdpac does not knowingly ask for or collect personally identifying information from children under the age of 13. If you become aware that your child has provided Crowdpac with personal information without your consent, please contact us at feedback@crowdpac.com. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to remove such information and terminate the child’s account.

Feedback

We value your opinions to make our Services more useful and relevant. Our feedback link is for you to provide us with feedback, testimonials, suggestions and ideas about our products and services - or you may also provide such content through other means which we’ll call “Responses”. We may use any of your Responses in any way, without obligation to you.

Cross Border Transfer

The Site is controlled and operated by us from the United States and is not intended to subject us to the laws or jurisdiction of any state, country or territory other than that of the United States. Your Personal Information may be stored and processed in any country where we have facilities or in which we engage service providers, and by using the Services you consent to the transfer of information to countries outside of your country of residence, including the United States, which may have data protection rules that are different from those of your country.

We reserve the right to change the provisions of this Policy at any time. We will make clear that changes have been made by indicating on the Policy the date it was last updated. Unless otherwise stated in the amendment, the amended Policy will automatically be effective seven days after it is initially posted on the Site. We encourage you to review this Policy from time to time to make sure that you understand how any Personal Information you provide will be used.
